1. Bow Bridge & The Lake, Central Park
The area around Bow Bridge and The Lake in Central Park is easily one of my favorite spots in New York City, especially when the leaves change colors in the Fall. If you have time, you can even rent a row boat to explore The Lake.
2. Serra d’Autunno at Eataly Flatiron
One of the most festive places to visit in NYC during the Fall is Eataly Flatiron‘s Fall-themed rooftop restaurant, Serra d’Autunno by Birreria. This place is an absolute Fall wonderland, with countless cute spots to take Fall photos, like a greenhouse covered in pumpkins and an arch made of Fall foliage.
The geniuses at Eataly have concocted some amazing Fall drinks, including a full apple cider bar and “edible” cocktails that come served in hollowed-out apples or gourds. Some highlights of the menu are the honeynut squash filled with stracciatella cheese and hazelnut vinaigrette, the butternut squash risotto, and the pork milanese. All of the produce Serra d’Autuno serves is locally sourced, with many varieties of squash coming from the Union Square Greenmarket down the street.
Be sure to make reservations in advance if you want to sit down for a meal—otherwise, the bar also takes walk-ins on a first-come, first-served basis.
3. Upper West Side Halloween Decorations
Some households go all out when it comes to Halloween decorations, especially in New York City. Some of the best decorations can be found on the Upper West Side. My favorites are the brownstones located along W 94th between Central Park West and Columbus.
4. The Mall, Central Park
The Mall in Central Park is an iconic NYC spot year-round, but in the Fall it turns into a magical tunnel of red and orange foliage. One of the best places to take a stroll in New York in the Autumn!
5. West Village Brownstone Stoops
One of my favorite things about the West Village around this time of year is all the festively decorated front stoops. Incredibly cute and quintessentially New York City! You can find this brownstone on Bank Street, but there are many more around the West Village to explore.
6. Gapstow Bridge & Wollman Rink, Central Park
Another stunning part of Central Park during the Fall is Gapstow Bridge and Wollman Rink. From Gapstow Bridge, you can take beautiful photos of the Plaza Hotel framed with Fall leaves. And from the hill behind Wollman Rink, you can shoot some stunning pictures of the New York City skyline.
7. Grove Court
Located in the West Village, this cute residential courtyard is decorated with pumpkins each fall. Be aware that Grove Court is a private courtyard – if you are going to shoot photos through the gate, please be sure to be respectful!
8. Columbia University
Maybe I’m biased because I go to school here, but I love when the leaves change color on Columbia‘s campus. One of the prettiest spots is the main walkway through campus, located at 116th St. between Broadway and Amsterdam. You can get creative using the trees to frame historic university buildings such as Low Library or Butler Library.
Autumn is truly a magical time of year in NYC and definitely worth experiencing. I hope you enjoyed reading my guide on where to take the best Fall photos in New York City!

Kelsey
